Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness - DOMS | U Fit Studio

When I’d been to the gym before U Fit, I thought I had worked hard. My muscles ached a bit, but only a bit. For me, if I sweated, that meant I had worked as hard as I needed to, no more, no less.

When I joined U Fit, the team got me used to my program, helped me understand what I needed to do and when. It was hard, or so I thought.

After couple of weeks they really trained me hard, harder than I had ever been before in my life. My muscles ached by the end of the session, but nothing like they did the next morning.

I sprung out of bed as normal, ready to face the day. In an instant I felt pain in what felt like every muscle in my body. I hobbled out of my bedroom, and attempt the stairs, and by attempt, I mean crawl. For the rest of the day any amount of movement felt like it hurt everywhere, I had never experienced anything like it!

My coach explained that it was delayed onset muscle soreness, or DOMS for short, I called it agony.

Over the next few months I got to experience DOMS on a regular basis, until I got used to it. Sure, it’s not the most pleasant feeling in the world, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. It’s helped me reaslise that working out is more than sweating. 😊
